The Croatian Society for Sexual Therapy (HDST) is a professional association that brings together psychotherapists, physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, sociologists, and experts from related fields who are dedicated to the treatment of sexual disorders and the promotion of sexual health. As the first organization of its kind in Croatia, HDST plays a pioneering role in developing professional standards, education, and public awareness in the field of sexual
health.
Founded in Zagreb on June 20, 2007, and officially registered on August 27, 2007, HDST began its work with a clear mission: to advance sexual health in Croatia by educating qualified professionals and providing a structured, evidence‑based approach to the treatment of sexual difficulties. Since its establishment, the Society has served as a central point for professional collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the development of therapeutic competencies in sexual therapy.

HDST is member of SPUH (Croatian Alliance of Psychotherapy Associations) and EFS (European Federation of Sexology)
HDST organizes the first and, to date, the most comprehensive professional and scientific educational programs in Croatia dedicated specifically to sexual health and sexual disorders. These programs are designed to equip therapists and counselors with the theoretical knowledge, clinical skills, and ethical foundations necessary for high‑quality work in this
sensitive and important area of human well‑being.

The Society was founded with the aim of representing, coordinating, promoting, and improving the work of sexual therapists in Croatia. It also strives to ensure a unified professional presence, support the development of the field, and advocate for the professional interests of its
members.

HDST offers three categories of membership:
• Regular members – individuals who have completed an educational program in sexual therapy (in Croatia or abroad).
• Associate members – individuals currently enrolled in an educational program.
• Honorary members – individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the Society’s mission and goals.

To date, HDST has successfully completed four generations of training programs for sexual
therapists and sexual health counselors. The announcement for enrollment in the fift generation is currently underway, continuing the Society’s commitment to building a strong, well‑educated professional community dedicated to sexual health.
